Why the Lakes Region Should be Your Next Home
The natural beauty of our lakes and mountains, combined with our four season recreational opportunities and a wide variety of cultural events makes the Lakes Region a natural choice whether starting a career, raising a family, or embarking onto an active retirement.
Hugging the southern finger of Lake Winnipesaukee, this location makes it very desirable for commuters. Boston is simply two hours away and Maine 45 minutes northeast. If the lake isn’t enough, it’s only a short drive to ocean beaches and with Gunstock Mountain Resort at your backdoor, you’ll be ready for the slopes.
Alton has been described as “A Portrait in Granite” by historian Barton M. Griffin. With our five children we raised here in Alton, one can say we’ve never been bored. During the summer, the recreation department has all kinds of fun programs for kids (and adults, too). My gang loves to go swimming down at the docks or the newly landscaped lakeside beach.
In the winter, besides the ever popular skiing, we enjoy nighttime tubing. Whizzing down the mountain and freezing to death! We’ve been involved in everything from 4H, little league, brownies, cub scouts, every sport known to man, a bit of animal husbandry and the Alton Business Association. Our kids actually beg us to stay home.
If you are considering moving to the Lakes Region or simply wandering by, come on over for a cup of coffee
and give us a call.
